What is COP?

COP is the United Nations Climate Change Conference, named ‘Conference of the Parties’. COP is an annual global climate summit bringing together most world nations to address climate change as a global priority. The most recent, COP26, in Glasgow was widely viewed as the world’s best last chance to bring climate change under control and to adhere to the terms of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, agreed at the earlier COP21 in Paris in 2015. This committed every country to work together to keep global warming under 2 degrees and aim for 1.5 degrees, to adapt to the impacts of a changing climate and to ensure funding is available to deliver on these aims.
